Hi food lovers and welcome to The Tasty K! 🙂
I’ve started this blog to share my passion for cooking, baking and above all, healthy and tasty food. I am hoping to inspire others to get creative in the kitchen and include more whole foods, plant-based meals in their diet. Changing my lifestyle has been such a huge success for me, so that by sharing these recipes, I’m aspiring to help others, who are looking for a more balanced relationship with food, or simply searching for tasty and healthy recipes.
Over the years I’ve come to learn that eating habits are a very personal thing and may completely differ from person to person. As for me, from the moment that I moved out of my parent’s house, I developed a very unhealthy relationship with food. For the past 8 years I was living on two extremes: either radical overeating to the point of wanting to vomit or skipping meals and starving myself. I never went on a specific diet, because deep down I knew that in order to feel better I had to develop balanced eating habits.
When I decided to adopt a plant based diet, it seemed like the right moment to finally deal with this and find a healthy balance in my relationship towards food. In order to get all the important nutrients my body needs from plant based food (I’ve always had troubles getting enough iron), I started reading a lot about food and how to fuel my body with enough proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, water and fats, without eating animal products. Part of this research was learning about mindful eating and listening to my body’s needs and signals. My biggest problem has always been that I didn’t listen to my body at all. Most of the times I ate without even being hungry, in a hurry, just because I was bored or I thought that I needed to eat because of the time or the social environment. Many times I ate the wrong foods, in too big or too small portions instead of eating what my body really needs. That’s basically what healthy eating is all about – listen to your body! If you’re hungry, eat! If you feel like your body is craving for a specific kind of food, get it! Eating mindfully does not mean that you have to deprive yourself of delicious food or your cravings. Quite the opposite. I loooooove creating and eating sweet treats. In the end it’s all about moderation and balance.
Step by step, I managed to take control of my unhealthy eating habits and become a mindful eater. By mostly cutting out meat, eggs, dairy and processed sugar and adopting a more whole foods, plant-based diet my body and my mind feel much more energetic, healthy and happy!
I’ve learned that taking on a balanced attitude to healthy eating can be super easy and delicious at the same time. As you can see in this blog, a plant-based diet is so much more than just salads and veggies.
Hope you enjoy the recipes and inspiration on my website!
Lots of love,
